Dr. Zenobia Ann Casey died March 31, 2012 in Baltimore, Maryland. She was born on February 5, 1965 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Dr. Casey attended St. Michael Catholic School and graduated from Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory High School, where she was a member of the National Honor Society. Zenobia became fluent in Spanish during high school and she attended the Indiana University Honors program for Spanish in Mexico.
Dr. Casey also graduated from Xavier University of Louisiana and University of Cincinnati Medical School. Zenobia interned in Internal Medicine at Washington Hospital Center in Washington D.C. Subsequent to her internship, she became a resident in Anesthesiology at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. Upon completion of her residency, Zenobia remained at Johns Hopkins Hospital and became an instructor and later an Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine. She also became Director of Adult Remote Anesthesia. Dr. Casey performed most of her administrative duties in GI Endoscopy.
Zenobia was a past coordinator of the Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine (ACCM) Residency lecture series. She lectured on anesthesia techniques at local and national meetings. Dr. Casey was a member of the ACCM Education and Clinical Competency Committees and a Diplomat of the American board of Anesthesiology. Additional memberships included the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the American Medical Association, and the National Medical Association.
Dr. Casey was an avid world traveler. Her itinerary included Brazil, Cuba, the Caribbean Islands, the Holy Land, Rome, South Africa, and Turkey. She gained immense gratification in traveling to serve others which was demonstrated by participating in medical missions to Columbia and Guatemala. Despite residing in Maryland, Zenobia remained a "true" Indianapolis Colts fan and attended both Super Bowls when the Colts were contenders for the championship title.
Zenobia was preceded in death by her father, Dr. Cardinal Casey and brother, Clay Casey. She is survived by her mother, Sophia Casey; brother, Rex Casey; and sister-in-law, Travonna Casey. She is also mourned by a host of cherished aunts, an uncle, cousins, friends, colleagues, and her loving feline companion, Roscoe P. Casey.
Dr. Zenobia Casey was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, April 13, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Flanner and Buchanan -Washington Park North, 2706 Kessler Blvd. West Drive, Indianapolis. The Omega Omega Service will commence at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will take place at St. Michael the Archangel Church, 3354 West 30th Street, Indianapolis on Saturday, April 14, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
