ZADA (MAE) FORSYTHE BERGER, 78, of Indianapolis, Indiana, died January 8, 2011. Zada was born in Falmouth, KY, October 26, 1932, to the parents of Jesse R. & Blanche (Bishop) Forsythe. She resided in Indianapolis, Indiana for 43 years. She was a member of Saint Luke’s United Methodist Church. Zada contributed much of her off hours to various charity organizations such as the Arthritis Foundation, the Hemophilia Foundation and the Community Blood Bank. She has served as the president of the Butler University Women’s Club and the Delta Gamma Mother’s Club. She was active in originating the Girl’s Softball program for Westlane Delaware Trail Little League, where she served as Coach and Vice President for a number of years. Zada is survived by her devoted husband, Dr. James E. Berger of 54 years and four loving children, Val Berger (Sharon), Carmel, IN, Rick Berger (Mary), Indianapolis, IN, Lisa Bauman (Kyle), Merritt Island, FL, Greg Berger (Dawn), Schererville, IN. She loved her eight grandchildren, Nikki Cunningham (Patrick), Kim Berger, R.C. Berger (Anita), Andrew Berger, Scott Berger, Kacy Bauman, Amara Berger, Ryley Berger and five great grandchildren Jesse Layman, Christopher Cunningham, Alex Cunningham, Emilee Donato & Matthew Berger. Zada will be missed by siblings Howard Forsythe (Loretta) and Joe Forsythe (Denise). Zada was preceded in death by parents Jesse & Blanche Forsythe, siblings Herschel Forsythe and Donna Fritts. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Wednesday January 12, 2011 at Flanner and Buchanan Carmel Funeral Center at 11:00 am. Burial to follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Calling will be held on Tuesday January 11, 2011 from 4-8 pm at Flanner and Buchanan Carmel Funeral Center. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Arthritis Foundation by visiting www.arthritis.org or envelopes will be available at Flanner and Buchanan Carmel Funeral Center.
