Yrma Hernandez Morning

Yrma (Hernandez) Morning passed away on August 29, 2022, at the age of 87.  Yrma was born in Chicago, IL on July 29, 1935, to parents, Jose Hernandez and Maria Trinidad Lozano.  Yrma worked as a legal secretary and retired from the American Legion.

Yrma was a “Jill of All Trades”.  She approached everything with a can-do attitude and was the first to help someone in need, even when it meant putting herself last.  Her biggest joy was spending time with her beloved family, especially her grandchildren.  She enjoyed thrift-store and bargain shopping, garage sales, and was proud of her work as a Spanish Interpreter.  Yrma was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, where she was a Eucharistic Minister.  She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Post 495.

Yrma was preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Maria; husband, William Luther Morning II; daughters, Sonrisa Maureen Morning and Miestrella “Miesty” Morning; brothers, Joseph Hernandez, Ectore Hernandez, and Roger Hernandez; sisters, Belia Contreras, Pearl Whitaker, and Emma Davis; and grandchildren: Jeffery Scott Ewing (Aryonna) and Reina “Reinbow” Ewing.

Left to cherish Yrma’s memory are her children: Reina Morning Ewing, William “Memo” Morning III, and Estormenta “Storme” Morning; grandchildren: Rico Petrino (Clinton), Sonrisa “Sunshine” Stovall, Tiffany Star Ewing, Stanley “Ricky” Ewing (Brittany), Patrick Dean Metzger (Courtney), William “Billy” Morning IV, and Shane Joseph Morning; great-grandchildren: Skyla Ewing, Amora Stovall, Kaiser Ewing, and Anthony Ewing; as well as many other loving extended family and dear friends.

Visitation will be held from 3pm until 6pm, Thursday, September 1, 2022, at Flanner Buchanan-Washington Park East (10722 E. Washington Street, Indpls).  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am on Friday, September 2, 2022, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church (7243 E. 10th Street, Indpls).  Entombment will follow mass at Washington Park East Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family to be used according to their wishes in helping other families in need.
