Wyman Edwin Fischer, 92, Fishers, Indiana died on July 25, 2023. Wyman was born on June 17, 1931, in Frankenmuth, Michigan to the late Edwin and Hulda Fischer. He was a lifelong member of the Missouri Synod Lutheran Church. Throughout his life he served as congregational president, taught numerous Sunday school classes and senior bible studies.

When Wyman was 13 years old, he was chosen by his congregation to attend Michigan Lutheran Seminary Boarding School where he excelled academically and athletically. His senior year, Wyman qualified for the state track meet. Having no transportation, Wyman hitchhiked and placed in the top 10 of the long jump.

Wyman graduated from Concordia University, River Forest, Illinois in 1953. Soon after, he accepted a call as principal, teacher, coach and organist at St. John’s Lutheran School in New Minden, Illinois where he met his future wife Anna Lou Kasten. In 1961 he began doctoral studies at Southern Illinois University. After receiving his Ph.D. in 1964, Wyman accepted a faculty position at Ball State University, Muncie, Indiana where he stayed until his retirement in 1995. He served as chairperson of the Educational Psychology Department during his last eighteen years. He authored and co-authored several books and articles during his 31 years at Ball State University in Educational Neuropsychology.

Wyman is survived by his wife Anna Lou of 68 years, three daughters, Victoria (Frank) Tylman of St. Petersburg, Florida, Kristal (David) Clark and Holly (John) Durbin of Fishers, Indiana; eight grandchildren, Jennifer, Michael, Philip, Anne, Christine, John Paul, Jake, Caroline and nine great-grandchildren. He is survived by his brother Don. Wyman was preceded in death by two brothers: Marvin and Stanley and one sister Eileen.

Our Dad will be remembered for his sense of humor, graciousness, love of family and embodiment of servant leadership.
