Winson Clay Smith, 87, passed away May 5, 2024.
He was born on March 27, 1937, to Leland and Esther Smith.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, and basketball. He enjoyed watching the Cincinnati Reds play baseball and antique car shows. He retired from Diamond Chain but had previously worked in construction and as an over the road trucker for many years. He worked hard from the time he was a boy on the farm until the day he retired.
He is survived by his loving wife, Donna Smith; children, Jeff (Suzanne) Smith and Jena Roop; step-son, Kerby (Sabine) Thomas; grandchildren, Jason (Mercedes), Jessi (Samantha), Michael (Lacey), Katlin (DJ), Whitney (Hailey), Jeffery (Brandi), Alana (Brandon), Seth (Chelsea), Madison, and Hannah; great-grandchildren, Jason Jr., Payton, Elijah, Emmett, Riley, Casein, Camden, Emma, Hunter, Savannah, Jazzlyn, Isaac, Hudson, Rylee, Banks; siblings, Jean English, Patty (Donnie) Willis; sister-in-law, Sandy Smith; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, John; daughter-in-law, Leslie; grandson, Stephen Joseph; his son-in-law Barry Roop; his brother, Frank Smith; brother-in-law, Marvin English.
Cremation was chosen and a celebration of life will be held at 12pm on June 29th at Pleasant Heights Baptist Church with visitation from 11am until time of service.
