Bill graduated with a civil engineering degree from Purdue University, where he also served in the ROTC. In 1952, he joined the U.S. Army and served as a Corps of Engineer Technical Intelligence Officer in Japan and Korea during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged in 1954 after attaining the rank of First Lieutenant.
Following the military, he held several positions as civil engineer and then was appointed Town Administrator (Manager) for the Town of Speedway in 1958. Wanting to follow in his father's footsteps, Bill began his career in the residential construction industry by joining Falender Homes Corporation in 1960, where he served as Vice President/General Manager through 1972. In 1972, Bill formed Fox, Inc. to specialize in construction and remodeling of custom homes and light commercial construction. He also served as the Building Inspector for the Town of Zionsville for several years; and the Building Commissioner for the Town of Speedway for over 25 years, before recently retiring in May of this year.
Throughout his career, Bill received many accolades and commendations. He was elected to be the President of the Builders Association of Greater Indianapolis (BAGI) in 1973, where he later served on the Board of Directors for 6 years and chaired several committees. Bill was also active with the Indiana Builders Association (IBA) where he was awarded their highest honor, the John C. Hart Sr. presidential Award in 2005. He served as an area Vice President, Life Director, Board Member, and played an integral role on several of IBA's educational and building code committees. Bill was also a life Director for the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB).
Bill & Juanita are members of the Speedway Christian Church. In Bill's spare time, he enjoyed race-walking; tending to his beloved roses; following the Cincinnati Reds, Purdue Boilermakers, and Indianapolis Colts; but most importantly, spending quality time with his family. In May of this year, Bill was the second oldest participant in the Indianapolis Mini Marathon, which he completed with his daughter. Bill will always be remembered as a compassionate and generous friend who loved God and family. He will be missed greatly.
