William R. "Bill" Davis 82, Indianapolis, passed away September 19, 2012. Bill was born on October 13, 1929 in Indianapolis to the late, Frank and Louise (Kistner) Davis. As a child, Bill's babysitter was neighbor, Hoagie Carmichael. Bill was a graduate of Arsenal Technical High School and a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard. He served as Gov. Handley's bodyguard with the Indiana State Police for 13 years and later was a Manufacturing Rep. for 29 years. Bill was a member of the Antelope Club and the American Legion. He enjoyed golf, cards, bowling riding motorcycles and was an avid NASCAR fan. Bill loved cooking on the grill and traveling to Daytona Beach. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Virginia; son, Jeff (wife, Diana) and several special nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Services for Bill will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 22, 2012 at Flanner and Buchanan-Washington Park East, with visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, September 21. Burial will be in Washington Park East Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Make-a-Wish Foundation, Guiding Eyes for the Blind or to the donor's favorite charity.
