William J. O'Malley Jr.

April 16, 1935 — May 31, 2025

Carmel, IN

William James (Bill) O’Malley, passed away peacefully on May 31st in Carmel Indiana while holding the hand of his loving wife of 70+ years, Nancy. He was 90 years old.

Bill was born on April 16, 1935, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he would also spend his childhood. A devoted Catholic, Bill attended Marquette University High School ’53, and Marquette University ’57, graduating with a degree in finance and accounting, followed by his long career with General Motors in Milwaukee. Later, Bill relocated to Santa Barbara, California (Comptroller of Finance), finally ending his career in Kokomo, Indiana (Financial Director of Engineering, Delphi Electronics division). Bill retired in 2000 after 43 years of dedicated service with General Motors.

Bill cherished and valued the love of family and friends, but his wife Nancy was the love of his life, and they traveled all over the world together, Ireland being a favorite, and were never apart. Bill was a lifelong Packers fan, treasured family gatherings, and after retirement regularly played cards and golf with his buddies. He was a funny, goofy, gentle soul that loved unconditionally and was loved back by too many to count.

Bill is survived by his lovely wife Nancy, and seven loving children; Bill (Karen), Tim (Helen), Mike (Mary), Pat (Judy), Kate (Tony Armor), Dan, Mary Hernandez, and his 17 amazing grandchildren; Michael Jr. (Liz), Sean (Erin), Nicole, Kelly (Kevin) Bangs, Hunter (Cora) Armor, Ryan (Stephanie), Patrick (Alexandra), Catherine (Chris) Moffo, Conor Armor, Breandan, Caitlin (Jack) Bentle, Megan (Joel) Nishida, Devin, Matthew, Isabella Hernandez, Sophia Hernandez, Benjamin Hernandez, along with 15 great grandchildren and his many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Genevieve (Mandick) and his two sisters Mary Ellen (Ambrose) Schmitz and Patricia (Gorden) Malone, and in-laws Bernice (Thomas) Hayden and Roland Schwenke.

A special thank you to his outstanding care team for the past few years; Caroline, Sunrise on Old Merdian, and Hospice/Paradigm Health. And to all his good neighbors and close friends, he loved you ALL!
