William Richard Marietta of Indianapolis was born November 2, 1921 to John and Ruth Spoor Marietta in Clay County, Indiana. He passed away February 20, 2012. He graduated in the class of 1940 at Brazil High School. He attended Indiana State University for 2 years before enlisting into the Navy. Bill was in the Navy during WWII where he spent over 3 and half years in the South Pacific. Helping liberate Manila, Philippines and release of prisoners of war was special to him. In 1946, Bill returned to school at Indiana University where he met the love of his life, Louise Laughlin. In 1948 after graduation they were married and lived in Indianapolis 63 years. Bill was area manager for Lever Brothers from 1948 to 1960. He then started the Arlington Brokerage and was president until he sold in 1985. Bill is survived by his beloved family; wife Louise; daughters Denise Marietta (Edward) Hart and Debra Jeanne Marietta; granddaughters Janel Hart (Jason) Chatraw and Christina Hart (Blake) Andrews, and great grandchildren Faith, Julianna and Elijah Chatraw and Ethan and Ella Andrews. Services will be Saturday, February 25, 2012 11am at Flanner and Buchanan Broad Ripple, 1305 Broad Ripple Ave with visitation at the center Friday, February 24, from 5 to 8pm. Entombment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association of Greater Indiana.
