William M. 'Little , Jr.' Poindexter, Jr.

WILLIAM MAJOR POINDEXTER,JR., son of William M. Poindexter, Sr. and Roberta H. Crowdus Irvin, was bornSeptember 12, 1930 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
WILLIAM received his education from Elementary School #42. He alsoattended Crispus Attucks High School. After that point in time, heenlisted in the U. S. Army, serving in the Korean War. He also was in theNational Guard, 38th Discom Company, 1980 – 1996. William was a MessSergeant for his given Company. He was in charge of the Mess Hall, servingHeadquarter Officers and other enlisted men. William loved to cook,everyone would be coming to enjoy a Great Meal!!
WILLIAM had a Painting Business, name of the company was Modern Property. He and his son, Tony, ran the business. They painted many homes andchurches here in Indianapolis, as well as in Hamilton County.
WILLIAM gave his life to Jesus Christ in the year 1955. He was baptizedin Fort Riley, Kansas on May 11, 1955. He was a member at First SamuelBaptist Church, where he attended faithful until his health began to fail him.
WILLIAM was at Parkwood Healthcare Center in Lebanon, Indiana. The familywould like to thank the wonderful staff at Parkwood for taking wonderful careof him during his stay. He would help in the kitchen sometimes stillcooking, baking cookies.
WILLIAM was a fun loving person who loved to laugh, sing, and dance. Heloved everyone and everyone loved him.
WILLIAM MAJOR POINDEXTER, JR. departed this life Wednesday, December 23, 2015at the age of 85 years, 3 months, and 11 days. He was preceded in deathby his parents; son, Dexter Poindexter; daughter, Lavonnet Poindexter.
WILLIAM leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Joyce Joann; three children,Elaine Maria (William Anthony “Tony”), LeNita A. Hampton (Patrick), and TimothyWormley (Charlene); three grandchildren, Chehaina M. Winston, Jamal P. Hampton,and Anaya Wormley; dear cousin, Tyrone Poindexter; a host of other relativesand close friends.<!–[if !supportLineBreakNewLine]–><!–[endif]–>
