William "Bicycle Bill" Leahy, a man of vibrant character, generous spirit, and endless boyish humor, passed away on July 10, 2026, at the age of 87.

Born in Maywood, Illinois on November 11, 1938, to Jess and Florence Leahy, Bill lived a life defined by his unique passions and an unwavering dedication to the things—and people—he loved.

Anyone who knew Bill knew that music was one of his greatest joys. Though he was sadly blessed with absolutely no real ability to carry a tune, his lack of vocal talent never once stopped him from singing out loud and with total enthusiasm. He carried that same stubborn, unapologetic streak into everything he did. Yet, right alongside that stubbornness was a deeply generous heart. Bill took immense joy in random acts of kindness, always looking for quiet ways to lift others up and make people smile.

Bill was a man of diverse talents and hobbies. He had a lifelong love for the sport of boxing, dedicating his time and energy to working with the Police Athletic League (PAL) Club Golden Gloves. He was also a passionate, lifelong HAM radio operator, known by his call sign, K9RFK. Bill especially loved operating in CW (Morse Code) and proudly served his community as a Volunteer Examiner for the ARRL, helping others discover the joy of amateur radio.

Above all, Bill loved his family. He leaves behind a legacy of laughter and love through his son, Phillip, and daughter-in-law, Michelle, as well as his two cherished grandsons, Will and West, who brought immense pride to his life.

Bill's quick wit, signature humor, and kind heart will be deeply missed by his family, his friends, and the many lives he touched along the way.
