William Joseph Caldwell

William Joseph Caldwell, 84, of Carmel, IN, died at Carmel Health & Living Community on Friday, Jan. 13, 2012. He was born Dec. 21, 1927 in Welch, WV to Otto & Olive (Wyland) Caldwell. He graduated from Charleston HS in 1945, from WVU in 1949 with A.B. in Biology, and from U. of Michigan in 1958 with M.S. in Epidemiology. He married Betty Jo Morris in Clarksburg, WV on June 10, 1950. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church and Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity. He retired in 1992 from Dow Chem. after a career in virology & medical research. He enjoyed genealogy, coin collecting, & sports. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, and wife in 2011. He is survived by children David, Camille, Joseph, Mark & wife Willette, and Kevin & wife Anita; grandchildren Joshua, Michael and Leigha; great-grandchildren Markus and Delaney; and 8 nieces & nephews. Friends & family may gather at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church on Tuesday 9:30-10:30am. A mass of remembrance will be celebrated at 10:30am. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
