William Jett Sr.

September 1, 1944 — April 30, 2024

Greenwood, Indiana – William Jett Sr., 79, passed away at his home after a short battle with illness, April 30, 2024. Bill was born in Mount Olivet, Kentucky, on September 1, 1944, to parents Howard and Margaret (Curtis) Jett.

Bill worked as a maintenance technician for Super America, which became Speedway Gas Stations. He worked there for over thirty years before his retirement.

Bill was a classic jokester with a gentle heart. While stubborn at times Bill would give you the last dollar he had if you needed it. He never knew a stranger and did his best to make anyone feel welcome in his home, making sure to fill them in on his best stories.

When not working, he loved to relax with fishing trips in Indiana, traveling to Kentucky to visit family, following NASCAR racing, or the Cincinnati Reds. His greatest love was his family though and especially his grandchildren, who he loved spoiling.

In addition to his parents, Bill is preceded in death by his wife Lottie; son Louis Jett; and siblings Charles Jett, Ricky Jett, Ronnie Jett, Betty Linville, Bonnie McCarty, and Linda Applegate; nieces Bonnie Jett, Lori Pollitt, Ronda Jett, and nephew William D. Jett.

He is survived by his children, William Jett Jr., Charles Jett (Cindy Steele), Edith Scott (Mike), and Lisa Jett (Travis Galbraith Sr.); brother Glenn Jett; grandchildren Charles, Cayla, Taylor, Marcus, Travis, Bryan, Micheal, William, Austin, and Danny; as well as 15 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 10, 2024, at Flanner Buchanan - Memorial Park (9350 East Washington Street, Indianapolis, Indiana, 46229) from 12 pm - 2 pm. Funeral services will follow at 2 pm with Bill being placed to rest immediately following at Memorial Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked memorial contributions to be made to the American Arthritis Association.
