William Eric Hazel

William “Bill” Hazel, 63, of Indianapolis, passed away Nov 2, 2025. Bill was born in Indianapolis on July 29, 1962, to parents Arman Eugene Hazel and Myrna Hazel-Metzger. He graduated from Lawerence North High School.

Bill was a loving son, brother, uncle and friend. He was adored by all who made his acquaintances. He was full of life; when he was well, he loved to entertain, dine and travel. He loved spending time on his boat and the beach. When Bill became limited in his physical abilities, he never stopped loving life and exhibited great courage to ensure his independence and kept joy in simple things.

Bill loved the outdoors and animals of all kinds. He had many cats that he adored; the last two lived to be 17 and 18 years of age. He was given an 8-week-old Rough Coat Collie he named Gracie. They built a life together protecting and loving each other for 8 ½ years. They were best friends that loved and argued with each other like an old couple. Gracie has been transitioned to the wonderful folks at the Tri State Collie Rescue where she has been matched with her new forever home.

Bill made his career with GAP Inc. Starting as seasonal help at Washington Square Mall, his good way with people led to corporate employment opening stores in new markets, most notably Chicago, Illinois. In Chicago Bill also launched storefronts for the fledgling GAP Kids brand.

Bill was proceeded in death by his father Arman, grandparents John and Geneva Bolinger, Grandmother Shirley Stone, and life partner William Sterms. He is survived by his mother Myrna and stepfather Marvin, brother Bryan (Kim), sister Amy (Rich), nieces Shelby (Drew, Olivia, John, Elanor, Lincoln), Kara (Josh), nephew Clayton.

A visitation will be held in Bill's honor 1-2pm Monday, November 10th 2025 with a funeral service to follow 2pm at Flanner Buchanan-Washington Park East. Bill will be laid to rest at Washington Park East Cemetery.
