William Raymond Giles

William Raymond Giles, born on October 1, 1940, in Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2024. He was a loving husband, devoted father, cherished grandfather, and great-grandfather, bringing joy and laughter to everyone he encountered throughout his remarkable life.

Bill, as he was affectionately known, dedicated 64 wonderful years to his beloved wife, Barbara Giles. Together, they created a home filled with warmth and love. Bill was immensely proud of his family, which includes his son, Gregory Giles and daughter, Kelli Brinkman (David). 

As a grandfather, Bill delighted and enjoyed his eight grandchildren, each of whom carries a piece of his heart. He found immense joy in being a great-grandfather to seven great-grandchildren, ensuring that his spirit of kindness and love would continue to thrive in future generations, and he also leaves behind a brother, Ronald Giles.

Bill's personality was characterized by a gentle kindness and an innate ability to make everyone feel welcomed and at ease. He always loved spending time with family, embracing each moment as a precious treasure.

His service to his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps for four years exemplified his commitment and dedication, traits that he carried with him throughout his life. In the community, he was known not only for his military service but also for the warmth and compassion he extended to those around him.

Bill's legacy will live on in the hearts of his family, who remember him with deep love and admiration. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Phyllis Sherfield, but he leaves behind a vibrant family that will carry forward his values and the laughter he instilled in all of them.

A memorial gathering will be held in his honor on January 13, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a memorial service at 12:00 PM in Flanner Buchanan - Washington Park North, located at 2706 Kessler Blvd W Dr, Indianapolis, IN 46228.
