William (Bill) E. Glesing, Jr., 68 of New Palestine, passed away on Friday, June 18, 2021. He was born on May 6, 1953, to William E. Glesing, Sr. and Marjorie (Wulf) Glesing. Bill was a 1971 graduate of Warren Central High School where he played football, basketball and baseball and was the Senior Class President. He attended Indiana University and graduated in 1975 with his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration.
While at Indiana University Bill was a member and leader of the Chi Phi fraternity. He played a key role in re-establishing the IU chapter after a major fire. He held many leadership roles, including Chapter President, and continued to be active with the fraternity for many years as an alumnus.
Bill worked for decades as a successful professional sales representative for manufacturers in the construction industry, earning several awards for sales leadership and surpassing his goals while at Quality Aluminum Products (QAP).
More than anything Bill will be remembered for his passion and love for his family. Above all else, he was always there for anyone who needed him, especially taking great care of his mother after his father’s death. Bill rarely missed a child or grandchild’s school or sporting events and to be the photographer during the event to capture those special moments. Bill was a selfless, larger than life personality, giving, humble but proud, wonderful husband, son, father, grandfather and brother and friend.
He loved gardening, birdwatching, wood working, racing, and driving his Trans Am. He also was a DIY handyman and could fix just about anything.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 41 years Debra Glesing, and their children William Glesing III and Daniel (Alice) Glesing; several grandchildren; mother, Marjorie Glesing; sister, Cathy (Oran) Sands, and their children Paul Joseph (Kerry) Tavarczky (children Eleanor and Poppy), Jonathan Sands, and Anna Sands; brother, Dean (Sue) Glesing and their children Lindsay (Jeremy) Jones (children Alex and Lucy), Jonathan Spratt, Laura (Chris) Rude, and Amanda Glesing.
