William E. Jarrett

William E. Jarrett, 92, of Indianapolis, passed away Wednesday, April 18, 2012. William was born December 14, 1919 in Cynthiana, IN, son of William F. and Anna Gertrude (Knowles) Jarrett. He married Marion M. Wingerning on September 12, 1942 in her hometown of Astoria L. I., New York City. After graduating from Cythiana High School in 1938, Bill enlisted in the army before WWII and served in the Army-Air Force during the war in the South Pacific on the island of Guam as a B-29 mechanic. Upon discharge, he attended and graduated from Butler University with a degree in accounting. He worked for several corporations retiring in 1985 from the Indiana Department of Revenue. Bill was a member of both the American Legion and the Veterans Of Foreign Wars. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, a son, William (Kathy McClure) Jarrett of Cicero, IN and a daughter, Mary (Vern) Hausz of Nineveh, IN; grandchildren Carolyn and Lindsay Jarrett, Tim, Chris and Amie Hausz and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Russell and Robert Jarrett and sister Grace Sharp. Funeral services will be 3 pm Sunday, April 22, 2012 at Flanner and Buchanan-9350 E. Washington St., Indianapolis, IN 46229. Burial will be 1 pm Monday (EST), April 23, 2012 in Maple Grove Cemetery in Boonville, IN. Visitation will be held from 1-3 pm, Sunday at the funeral home.
