William Ernest (Ernie) Bailey, Sr. was born February 5th,1968 to the parents of John D. Bailey, Sr. and Coleen Twitty. Ernie,as he was affectionately called, was a beautiful and happy baby. Hegrew up in Indianapolis, Indiana. At the age of 12 years, he dedicated his lifeto the Lord, at Light of the World Christian Church.
Ernie graduated from John Marshall High School in 1986,and received his high school diploma. He later joined the Army, andserved for 12 years. During his time inthe Army, he was deployed to Washington D.C., Fort Eustis, Virginia, St.Thomas, and Korea, and received several awards for his time in service.
Ernie was the proud father of 5 wonderfulchildren that he loved dearly, a proud grandfather to 12 grandchildren, andbrother to a host of sisters and brothers. Ernie leaves behind…
Children: Sharena (Jonathan) Thorne,William Ernest (Aneatria) Bailey, Jr., Cortrell (Olivia) Bailey, Christopher(Jessica) Bailey, and Jonathan Bailey, were the children of Ernie Bailey andChristina Bailey (mother). He loved his children.Grandchildren: Lariya Marbley, Lanija Marbley, Elijah Thorne, TaliahThorne, Alana Thorne, Wise Bailey, Able Bailey, Faith Bailey, Marley Brunson, DeionBailey, Charles Bailey, and Avamarie Bailey.
Siblings: John D. Bailey, Jr., JohnettraDeine Bailey, Yolanda Bailey, Darlene Burks, Darwin (Shontel) Burks, and a hostof stepbrothers and a stepsister, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousinsthat he loved dearly.
Ernie was a fun loving, and very caringperson, and sincerely loved his family. And he could fix just about anything,especially a car. You could depend on him to help out, no matterwhat. He would say it’s ‘not a problem’. Ernie enjoyedthe outdoors, loved to go camping, and fishing with family. And heloved his mama. He would often spend the early mornings with hismother drinking coffee on the outdoor patio.
Ernie is proceeded in death by hisgrandparents, and his father, John D. Bailey, Sr., and sister, Latasha Bailey.
Ernie was called home June 5th, 2016, at NortonHospital, in Louisville, Kentucky, with his children, family, and loved ones byhis side. Gone too soon, he will be greatly missed.
