William M. Duncan, 94, of Indianapolis, passed away Saturday, December 14, 2013. He was born November 16, 1919 in Indianapolis, Indiana the son of James and Eulah Duncan. He retired from Stewart – Warner where he was a machinist retiring in 1983. He was a proud World War II Veteran. He served in the Army in France and Germany as a Sgt. He had maps and medals, which he treasured, from the battles in those countries. He was a member of Moose #17. He and his wife, Alma, toured the U.S. while he participated in the ABC Bowling League. He and his brother, Jim, won several tournaments. Many vacations were planned around these tournaments with his brother, Jim, and his wife Geneva.
He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Alma J. Duncan of Indianapolis; his daughter Donna Shamley (Gary) of Clearwater, FL; son-in-law Al Holzer of Peoria, Il; 6 grandchildren Linda Curley(Terry) of Danville,Il; Beth Kelley(Les) of North Augusta,SC; Sandy Holzer of Altamonte Springs, Fl; JR Shamley (Debbi) of Tampa. Fl; Colin Shamley (Melissa) of Shelbyville, In and Susie Holzer of Peoria, Il, 9 great-grandchildren Craig Hallett, Jade Holzer, Andrew Curley, Ryan Curley, Brooke Shamley, Corey Shamley, Hannah Shamley, Mason Shamley and CJ Shamley; and 1 great-great-grandchild Breanna Curley. He was preceded in death by his daughter Judy Holzer.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, December 19, 2013 at Flanner and Buchanan-Memorial Park, 9350 E. Washington St., Indianapolis, IN 46229. Visitation will be held Thursday from 12:00 – 2:00 PM. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery with military rites.
