William Durell “Duke” Andrews, 78, was born April 12, 1943 to Earnest V. and Lora Mae (Neal) Andrews in Livingston, Tennessee. Duke passed away on June 21, 2021 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Duke was such a passionate person. Not only when it came to Nascar, the Colts, and the Pacers, but he loved his family and friends fiercely, as he did life.
Despite the struggles he endured, he always remained positive and upbeat. His thoughtfulness led him to help others in his own unique way, whether it be by helping fix a car, giving a grandchild a ride on an electric scooter, or simply lending a listening ear. He had an amazing story and helped several others in their personal journeys as
well. As Duke was loved absolutely by all he knew, he will be missed. If love could have saved him, he would have lived forever.
In his younger years he worked at Hunter Weidner Chevrolet and Barber Manufacturing. He then moved on to his passion for helping others by working at Care-A-Van and eventually becoming a paramedic at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville, Indiana. After retiring, he continued to help others by working as a mechanic out of his garage.
He is survived by his loving spouse of 37 years Judy Andrews, daughters Kimberly (Denny) Peeples, Katherine (John) Andrews, sons Darrell (Melissa) Andrews, Jonathan Andrews, Dustin Andrews, Jordan Andrews, and Tony Nusbaumer, grandchildren Ashley Peeples, Kristen Peeples, Billy Elder, Kerry Elder, Zachary Andrews, Mariah Andrews,
Shaun Andrews, Erica Collier, Katelyn Andrews, Jonathan Andrews Jr, Emilli Andrews, Payton Lindley, Korina Lindley, Issac Andrews, Sici Miller, Nathan Nusbaumer, Kamryn Nusbaumer, 20 great grandchildren with 2 on the way, sister Rose (Danny) Stigall, several nieces and nephews, several great nieces and nephews, and his best friend Remy.
He is preceded in death by his parents Earnest and Lora Andrews, son Shaun Andrews, daughter Lisa Andrews, and brothers Dee Andrews and Doug Andrews.
There will be a Memorial Service held on Wednesday June 30, 2021 from 5:00PM – 7:00PM at Flanner Buchanan-Washington Park East 10722 E Washington Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46229.
A poem by P.A. Fleming:
“Let me live within the moment
Let me feel all that I can
Let me cherish life for all its worth
With everything I am…”
