William Cyrus “Bill” Reed, Jr., passed away on Sunday afternoon, August 7th after a brief illness. Born in 1925, he was the son of William Cyrus Reed, Sr., M.D. and Lucile Reed (nee Wakeland). Reed served his country in the Naval Reserves in World War II and overseas in Korea in the Army. After graduating from Indiana University, where he began a lifelong devotion to Phi Gamma Delta and Zeta Chapter “Beechwood,” Reed was a founder of Owens, Bryan and Reed Realtors in Bloomington, IN. Young realtors, both men and women, who had Reed as a mentor and teacher ended up having successful careers in real estate. After retirement from real estate he moved to Florida and served his community driving a van to take elderly and handicapped people to doctors’ appointments. He loved helping others. He always volunteered to work on holidays so the younger drivers could be with their families. Recently in Indianapolis, Reed was active in OASIS and thoroughly enjoyed living at Robin Run where he had many good friends. Reed is survived by a sister, Carol Reed Shircliff (Robert T.) of Jacksonville, FL; a daughter, Paula Reed Lynch (Margaret Pollack) of Arlington Virginia; a daughter-in-law, Carol King-Reed of Lee, MA. (Wm. Cyrus Reed, III, Ph.D. d.2012); a son, The Rev. C. Davies Reed (Carol Rogers Reed) of Indianapolis; and his dear friend Edie Greiwe of Indianapolis. He also leaves three grandsons: Jason Cyrus Lynch (Rebecca), Michael Reed Lynch (Lena Gerber) and William Christopher Reed; and two great-grand sons: Daniel Cyrus Lynch and Brian August Lynch. A Memorial Service is planned for October 8th in Indianapolis. Details will be announced closer to the date. Arrangements: Flanner & Buchanan – Zionsville. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Francis In-The-Fields Episcopal Church, 1525 Mulberry Street, Zionsville, Indiana 46077.
