William I. (Bill) Craig, age 77, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at his home in Indianapolis. He was born on August 19, 1947, to Orville D. (Red) & Marjorie F. (Irwin) Craig. He was a 1965 graduate of Arlington High School and married Susan J. (Arthur) Craig on October 19, 1968.
He was an Army Veteran, worked at the Buehler Corp (Indiana Gear Works) as a machinist and foreman for 16 years, foreman at Reeder & Kline Machine Co. for 3 years, and also worked at Bardach Awards and retired from Artistic Awards.
Bill loved family first, especially his kids and grandkids.
There was never a dull moment around Bill. He loved hot rods (especially a 1955 Chevy), vacationing in Fort Morgan, Alabama, tending to his garden and refurbishing antiques. He enjoyed playing cards, and there was always a delay when it came to his turn because he had a story to tell. He loved good jokes, witty sayings (aka Billy-isms), and teasing his loved ones.
He is survived by his wife Susan (Susie) of 56 years; children, Cory Craig (Karry) and Lori Marcum (Rod); and three beautiful grandchildren: Lucy Marcum, Layne Marcum (Anna), and LeeLoo Craig. Also surviving are Bill’s brother Denny Craig (Debbie), twin sister Betty McGrath (Steve), and niece Alex Craig.
There will be a memorial visitation Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at Flanner Buchanan Washington Park East, 10722 E. Washington Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46229, from 11:00am-1:00pm followed by a Celebration of Life at 1:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to a charity of your choice.
Construction Alert: Blue Line Project Underway
Gradex will reduce the front entrance at Washington Park East to a single lane due to ongoing Blue Line construction. We understand this change may cause significant traffic delays, especially for our funeral, cemetery, and event services.
What we're doing to help:
To ease congestion, we’ve expanded the 10th Street entrance, which will be open during normal business hours for all guests. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate this evolving situation. We’ll continue to monitor traffic flow and make adjustments as needed to ensure the best possible experience for our visitors.
