William “Alan” Alsman, affectionately known as Kraut, 81, passed away February 17th, 2022. He was born in Indianapolis, August 20th, 1940, to parents Lloyd and Irma (Minnick) Alsman.
Alan grew up in Indianapolis and graduated from Howe high school. In his younger years, he attended Wallace Street Presbyterian Church.
He proudly served his country in the United States Army Reserves.
Alan worked on the production line at Ford for many years before retiring.
Alan was an avid animal lover, especially cats. He enjoyed collecting military and German memorabilia. When the weather was right, Alan liked to snow mobile, and he always loved to dance.
He was a devoted brother, uncle, and friend. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his nieces Marsha (Jim) Downey, and Sheryl (John) Jones; numerous great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Alan is preceded in death by his sister Charlotte and brother-in-law Ted Ambuhl.
Alan’s visitation will be Friday, February 25th at Washington Park East, from 3-5pm. His funeral will begin at 5pm and conclude with military honors. He will be laid to rest at Washington Park East Cemetery.
