William A. Prows, 84, Indianapolis, joined his wife, Anna, in heaven on February 21, 2011. He was born March 5, 1926. William was a welder and built Quarter Midgets before he retired more than 20 years ago. He is survived by his daughter, Janet Giles; his grandson, Clark; his granddaughter, Kimberly; and his great-granddaughter, Kiley. William is from a large family of nine, and is survived only by one brother, Roy Prows, Spencer, IN, and one sister, Alberta Price, Somerset, KY. He served in WWII in the 1st Calvary of the U.S. Army in the Philippines. Although he rarely mentioned his military service, he was awarded two Bronze Stars and other medals for his combat service. A private burial will be held this week at Washington Park East Cemetery. A memorial service for family and friends will be Saturday, February 26, 2011 from 1-4 PM at the American Legion Hall, 327 Main Street, Beech Grove, IN.
