William A. Jacobson, 86, of Indianapolis, passed away Wednesday, March 14, 2012. William was born October 8, 1925 in Duluth, MN to Arthur and Edna (Wright) Anderson. He lived in Duluth until he was in high shcool, then moved to Indianapolis. He was a 1943 graduate of Shortridge High School. After graduation, he entered the US Army, and served his country in Japan. He was a former member of VFW Post 7119. William was a member of the Teamsters Union and worked in the trucking industry until he retired in 1988. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Nordin Jacobson (February 10, 2001).
William was a loving husband and father who had a great sense of humor.
He is survived by his children, Linda DeRoy (Rod) of Woodberry, MN, Lori Jacobson (Loyd) and Lisa Norwood (Robert) of Indianapolis, and Lance Jacobson of Cloverdale, IN, grandchildren, Shawn Hewson (Sharon), Lani Nimerfro, Codey, Corey, Mikala and Mariah Jacobson and Lea and Jake Norwood, great grandchildren, Ila, Ruby and Cash Nimerfro, Sadie and Siena Hewson.
Services will be held 4pm Saturday, March 17, 2012 at Flanner and Buchanan Memorial Park, 9350 E. Washington St., Indianapolis, IN 46229. Visitation will be Saturday from 2-4pm at the funeral home. Military rites will be conducted following the service. Private burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
