Wilbur Lee Evans, Jr., 90, of Indianapolis, passed away on Monday, August 15, 2016. He was born on March 25, 1926 in Indianapolis, to Wilbur Lee Evans, Sr. and Ruby N. (Venitz) Evans. Junior graduated from Arsenal Tech High School and honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He worked as a plumber and contractor and was the owner and operator of Evans Development until his retirement in 1988. Junior was a member of the Englewood Masonic Lodge and the Murat Shrine. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed fishing. Junior will be remembered as an outgoing, friendly man with a wonderful sense of humor, right until the end. He is survived by his wife of nearly 61 years, Virginia (Bivens) Evans; children, Larry Evans, Jerry Evans, Wilbur “Billy” Evans III, Marianne Bain; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Junior was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Bonnie Moore. Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2016 from 1-2pm at Flanner and Buchanan – Memorial Park. A private service for family only will be held immediately following. Burial will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery.
