Indianapolis

Wilbur Duane Wills, 99, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away peacefully on October 10, 2023. The Wills family wishes to thank the compassionate people from Hospice and Westside Garden Plaza who assisted him with his final journey in life.

Wilbur, fondly known as Tibb, was born in Saybrook, Illinois to Walter and Laura Wills on April 4, 1924. He was the last to survive of their 12 children. Though a long-time resident of Indiana since the late 1950’s, his attachment to beloved family and friends in central Illinois remained a constant throughout his long life.

Wilbur was predeceased by many dear family members including his siblings and his wife of 51 years, Rosemarie Hardy Wills of Gibson City, Illinois. He is survived by his daughter Rebecca and her husband Peter, son Duane and his wife Nancy, Rosemarie’s three living children, as well as treasured grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Tibb was a humble and kind gentleman who always thought of others first. He was a man who did everything to the best of his ability. He was a gifted woodworker who applied his knowledge of the trades to countless projects in his lifetime.

Aside from his devotion to family and friends, he was also passionate about his career as chief chemist for Central Soya Company which spanned more than 40 years. He was “a company man” who was always proud of his contribution in analyzing grain grown by farmers from the heartland of America. This connection to his roots was sustaining and meaningful throughout his years.

Viewing will be 12:30 – 2:30 p.m. Thursday, October 19, 2023, at Flanner Buchanan – Speedway at 2950 N. High School Road, in Indianapolis.

A burial of cremated remains and memorial celebration will be held in the months ahead for both Tibb and Rosie in Gibson City, Illinois. Date to be announced.

In lieu of flowers, if you wish, please make a donation to your local Humane Society which will honor Tibb’s love of animals and, in particular, his beloved kitty companions.
