Weimer K. Hicks, Jr. passed away on November 30, 2025. Born February 9, 1936 in Trenton, New Jersey to Weimer and Jean Hicks. Weimer was a proud veteran who served in the United States Army stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. He was employed by the Children’s Museum, Connor Prairie, Fort Harrison Library, and he retired from the Genealogy Division of the Indiana State Library. He was a volunteer guide at the Eiteljorg Museum for over 25 years. He graduated from Wayland Academy, Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, where his father was Head of School. He attended Ripon College, Ripon, Wisconsin, where he was a member of Theta Chi Fraternity, and he graduated from Adrian College, Adrian, Michigan. He received a Master’s Degree in Black History from Butler University.
He was a deacon and a 50 year plus member of Northminster Presbyterian Church. Weimer had a lifelong interest in antiques. He is survived by his wife of 55 years Anita (Cruzan), his sister Susan Labahn (Jon), his nieces Lorajo Beccari (Daniel) and Michelle Johnson (Joe), and a nephew Jon O. Labahn, Jr., as well as several great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a niece Stacey Labahn.
Services will be held at Flanner Buchanan – Broad Ripple on December 15, 2025. The calling will be from 10:00 – 12:00 PM until the funeral service at noon. Burial will follow service at Crown Hill Cemetery.
