Wayne Smith, 85, of Westfield, Indiana, passed away on August 13, 2026. He was born on August 8, 1941, in Cave City, Kentucky, to parents, the late Paul and Margaret (Gaskin) Smith. Wayne married the love of his life, Joyce (McCain) on August 19, 1961, enjoying a wonderful 65 years of marriage together before his passing.
Wayne was a true person who never met a stranger, striking up conversations with anyone he encountered. He loved traveling, admired classic cars, and found great joy in singing, especially the timeless songs of Frank Sinatra and Elvis Presley. He was immensely proud of his family, the life they built together, and the legacy of love, laughter, and hard work they shared. Wayne was a member of The Metropolitan Indianapolis Board of Realtors for 56 years. He was listed in the “Who’s Who” in American Real Estate. He sold over 4,000 homes during his career in Indianapolis and surrounding areas. Wayne started his real estate career at Carriage Estates in the 70’s and shortly after opening his own company called Wayne E. Smith Co. Realtors through the 80’s. He later worked for Remax Realtors and F.C. Tucker where he finished his career. He won numerous awards throughout his lifetime as one of the top producing realtors in Indianapolis and surrounding areas. He was an avid golfer and former member of Heather Hills Golf Club, now called Maple Creek. He volunteered for the BMW Golf Championship at Crooked Stick as a walking scorer. He and Joyce are members at St. Maria Gorretti Church in Westfield, IN.
