Wayne A. Hahn, 91, of Carmel, Indiana, passed away on April 20, 2024, surrounded by his family. He was born on November 12, 1932, in Madison, Wisconsin, to parents, Rudolph and Bertha Hahn.

Wayne was an extraordinarily kind and loving man who devoted his life to his family and to helping others.

Wayne pursued his education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and at Concordia University in River Forest, Illinois, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in education. His passion for helping the community and others was exemplified in his career choices.

Throughout his professional life, he aimed to better the lives of others as an educator, social service administrator, and in the other non-profit organizations that benefitted from his experience. For the last two decades of his career, Wayne served as the administrator and executive director of the Lutheran Home of Northwest Indiana, where he brought care and compassion to both residents and staff. Wayne also served as an administrator/controller for Clearbrook Center, Lutheran Social Services of Northern Illinois, the Institute for European Studies, Purdue University - Calumet, St. Paul's College in Concordia, Missouri, and Concordia University in River Forest.

Beyond his business persona, Wayne had a wonderful (sometimes goofy) sense of humor, loved to read, to camp, to travel and he loved pets, including his cats Tigger, Sundance, Jessie, and his grand-pet dog, Monet and grand-pet cat, Maisie. He played college football as a punter and was an avid tennis player and tennis coach, which led to his enjoyment of sports as a big Boilermaker and Packer fan.

Wayne was a devoutly and deeply faithful man, whose dedication to his faith was unwavering and served as a guiding light in all aspects of his life. Above all else, Wayne loved and was deeply loved by his family, especially his wife of 62 years, Ruth. He also held a special place in his heart for his sons and daughters-in-law, and of course, for his two granddaughters, whose moments together he treasured. His love for family was evident in everything he did.

Wayne is survived by his loving wife, Ruth Hahn; sons, Paul (Lynne) Hahn and Russ (Mary Kay) Hahn; granddaughters, Alexis Hahn and Emily Hahn; brother, Douglas Hahn; and many other family members and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Donald Hahn and Harold Hahn.

There will be a memorial service for Wayne at 2 pm Saturday, May 11th, 2024, at the King of Glory Lutheran Church, located at 2201 E. 106th Street in Carmel, Indiana.
