Wayne Brown, 83, of Fishers, IN, passed away on Sunday May 29, 2016 after a short illness. Wayne, the beloved youngest son of Stuart and Paula Brown, was born October 18, 1932 in Davenport, IA. He graduated from Aledo High School in Illinois in 1950 and from Iowa State University in 1954 as an Agricultural Engineer. He spent the next two years in the Army stationed in Chicago. Upon discharge, he farmed with his older brother for two years near Galesburg, IL. Wayne joined Caterpillar in Peoria, IL and later transferred to Aurora, IL in 1971. He retired in 1998 after 38 years of service – he always said his greatest accolade at work was helping employees meet their full potential. [JEB1] They moved to Fishers, IN in 2004.
On March 16, 1958, Wayne married Joan Hinkle in Galesburg, IL. They were married for 53 years and were the proud parents of three children. Wayne’s family was his greatest treasure! His trust in the Lord kept him steadfast, keeping him involved in his church his church, Easter Seals, Boy and Girl Scouts of America, Aurora Library Board, SAWS, and Rotary International.
Survivors include his daughters Connie Murray of Fishers, IN, and Jill (Jeff) Brueckheimer of Plymouth, MI, and grandson Sean Murray of Fishers, IN. He is also survived by two brothers Don (Nancy) Brown and Ned (Mary) Brown both of Galesburg, IL. He was preceded in death by his son Scott, his wife Joan, and his parents Stuart and Paula Brown.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Lung Association (www.lung.org).
The visitation will be Friday June 3 at Second Presbyterian Church of Indianapolis from 1-3 pm, with the service following at 3pm. Arrangement entrusted to Flanner and Buchanan-Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. Online condolences may be made at www.flannerbuchanan.com.
