Warren Vernon 'Bill' Tucker

April 6, 1922 — February 18, 2015

Warren Vernon "Bill" Tucker, 92, passed away February 18, 2015 at Samara of Greenbriar Village in Indianapolis. He was born April 6, 1922 in Flat River, Missouri to the late Otto and Emma Tucker. Bill proudly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II on the USS Saratoga and the USS Yorktown as a combat photographer. He was also a member of the American Legion. He retired from the Kroger Company after 30 years as a machinery repairman in the bakery. Throughout life, Bill enjoyed camping, traveling, the great outdoors, and gardening. He had a special warm spot in his heart for children. Bill was loved by all who knew him, and was always ready to help anyone in need. He was a proud patriotic veteran – he loved his Country and was a true inspiration to all! Bill is survived by his loving wife Irene; daughter Pam (Ron) Beam, daughter-in-law Sheila Tucker, stepdaughter Sharon (Rick) Reeves, and stepson Bill (Brenda) Gierke; 3 grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; and 9 step-great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Ettavie, and his son Alan Tucker. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kindred at Home Hospice Care or to Stitchin' Sisters Quilt Club.
