Ward Daniel Lauer

Ward Daniel Lauer, 68, passed away on September 18, 2026. He was born on March 24, 1958, in Racine, Wisconsin, and lived a life defined by deep faith, unwavering dedication, a servant's heart, and a profound love for his family and community.

An alumnus of Indiana University, Ward built a fulfilling career as a talented and dedicated freelance audio engineer. His lifelong love of music began in childhood when he learned to play the piano under the guidance of his mother, Judith Lauer, who was his piano teacher. His musical gifts extended through his high school and college years, during which he played the French horn, a passion he later shared with his uncle Kent as a member of the Carriage House Brass Quintet.

A devoted Christian whose faith was the cornerstone of his life, Ward was known for challenging and encouraging other men in their spiritual journeys. With a true servant's heart, he faithfully led prayer-walking ministries throughout Hamilton and Marion counties, including founding a prayer-walk ministry in his hometown of Westfield.

Witty, fun, and outgoing, Ward approached life with tremendous energy and a wide array of interests. He enjoyed working on cars, passionately followed politics as a dedicated conservative, and loved celebrating holidays with those he held dear. An enthusiastic traveler, he treasured family vacations and always embraced spontaneous opportunities to explore new scenic places and make lasting memories.

At the very heart of Ward's life was his family. He was a devoted husband of 36 years to Amy Pittman Lauer, and a loving father to his two sons, Maxim and Daniel Lauer. His love, guidance, invaluable life lessons, and steadfast presence will forever remain a cherished gift to them.

Ward is also survived by his sister, Toni Lauer McNeely (Paul), and his brother, Brian Lauer (Bonnie). He was preceded in death by his father, Robert C. Lauer.
