Wanda Louise (Martin) Poynter
88, of Indianapolis, passed away passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2016. Wanda was born in Lockland, Ohio on April 26, 1927 to parents, Marion and Odell (Trueblood) Martin. She graduated from Bainbridge High School and retired from Western Electric, where she worked on the soldering line.
Wanda was a strong, independent and nurturing woman, raising her five children on her own. She enjoyed football- especially Peyton Manning, basketball – especially Reggie Miller, bowling, singing, gardening, and enjoying time on her porch swing while birdwatching. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, including her extended family at Crestwood Village South.
Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, an older brother, an older sister, one half-brother, one half-sister; and one daughter, Ginger Powell.
Wanda is survived by her children: Daniel L. “Danny” Poynter (Dede), Debbie Bacher (George), Carole Rossman, and Shelley Durell; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; and her longtime best-friend, Georgana Hoff.
Visitation will be held from 1pm until 3pm on Friday, February 12, 2016 in Flanner and Buchanan- Washington Park East, where her funeral service will immediately follow at 3pm. Burial will be in Washington Park East Cemetery.
