Wanda L. Liebtag, a beloved mother, grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully with family by her side on June 15, 2026. Born on June 24,1942, in London, Kentucky, Wanda’s life was a testament to love, generosity, and infectious joy.
Wanda’s vibrant spirit was evident in every aspect of her life. With a career as a dedicated Realtor at Carpenter Realty and a brief time spent working at Macy's, she exemplified commitment and a warm, approachable nature. She was known far and wide for never meeting a stranger, always ready to share a smile or a heartfelt conversation. A lover of Broad Ripple and named Social Butterfly. She embraced the lively spirit of her community and treasured the simple pleasures of spending time with family and friends.
She was an avid fan of American Idol and The Voice, often gathering with loved ones to watch and cheer on her favorite contestants. Most of all, she adored her grandchildren and took immense pride in the large, loving family she nurtured.
Wanda was the daughter of the late John Allen and Zelma Allen and was preceded in death by her husband Theodore Elliot Liebtag; siblings Helen, Jay, Ray, Bob, Edna, Gene, Kenneth, and Troy. Despite these losses, she remained surrounded by a loving and supportive family who were the center of her world.
She leaves behind a devoted family who will carry forward her legacy of love and generosity: her children Donald D. Deaton, Jr. (Kim), Dawn M. Deaton, Susan R. Wilson (Ron), Jonathan L. Crook, and Jason E. Crook; thirteen grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren who were a constant source of joy and pride for her. Wanda also leaves her dear sister, Charlotte Voelker, and countless family members and friends who all cherished her warmth and kindness.
Known for her giving heart, Wanda generously supported many charities throughout her life, reflecting a spirit of compassion that touched many lives. Her generosity and vibrant personality made Broad Ripple a brighter place, where her memory will forever remain a guiding light.
Services to honor Wanda’s life will be held on June 26, 2026, at Flanner Buchanan - Broad Ripple, located at 1305 Broad Ripple Ave in Indianapolis, Indiana. The visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., followed immediately by a Celebration of Life from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., where family, friends, and all who knew her can gather to remember and celebrate the extraordinary life she lived.
Wanda L. Liebtag’s legacy is one of unwavering love, laughter, and generosity. While she is deeply missed, her spirit lives on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
