Walton Alfred May III

May 23, 1958 — November 28, 2025

Lebanon, IN

Walton Alfred May III, a cherished member of his family and community, passed away on November 28, 2025, in Indianapolis, Indiana. Born on May 23, 1958, in Baltimore, Maryland, Walt was known for his easy-going nature, likable personality, and great sense of humor.

Walt dedicated thirty years of his life to the construction industry, where his hard work and determination earned him respect among his peers. His career reflected not only his skill but also his commitment to building a future for himself and his loved ones.

Family was the cornerstone of Walt's life. He relished the opportunity to spend time with his family during special occasions such as birthdays and holidays. His bond with his brother Michael was particularly special; they shared many fond memories from childhood, including playing sports, biking to the ocean, and going on family vacations. This close-knit relationship exemplified the warmth and support that characterized Walt's life.

Walt was happiest when surrounded by his loved ones, including his sister, Jennifer Guidry; his brother, Michael (Tina) May; his nephews: Michael II (Colleen) and Nicholaas May, and his great-nieces and -nephews: Eevee, Lucy, and Mike May. Walt also leaves behind his faithful feline companion, Simon. He enjoyed creating lasting memories with them and was always ready to lend a helping hand whenever needed. He always enjoyed the opportunity to spend time with them, often accompanied by the delicious meals prepared by his sister-in-law, Tina, for which he was always grateful.

Beyond his family ties, Walt was passionate about his hobbies. A devoted sports memorabilia collector, he built a remarkable collection over the years and eagerly looked forward to attending the Chicago sports festival with his brother, nephews, and friends. His enthusiasm for sports extended to cheering on the Colts and his enjoyment of the excitement surrounding racing events in Indianapolis, and pre-event tailgating was one of his favorite pastimes.

Walt had a playful side, as well, with a penchant for trying his luck in the lottery, dreaming of that big win from a scratch-off ticket.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walton A. May, Jr. and Very E. May, and his brother, Matthew T. May. Walt's passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His kind spirit, laughter, and generous heart will be greatly missed.

A private graveside service for family to honor Walt’s life will be held on December 4, 2025, at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Indianapolis, Indiana.
