Walter R. Foreman Sr.

Walter R. Foreman Sr., 91, of Indianapolis, passed away on April 15, 2022. He was born to the late Walter R. and Alice Foreman on July 8, 1930 in Indianapolis.

After graduating from Arsenal Tech High School, he married his beloved wife of over 75 years, Phyllis M. (Cochran) Foreman. He raised his family on the east side of Indianapolis and retired as a Foreman from Kroger Bakery.

He adored and cherished every moment he had with his lifelong sweetheart, Phyllis. When not spending time with his family and friends, he enjoyed bowling and golf.  He had an amazing work ethic accompanied by an even bigger sense of humor and could easily bring a smile to your face.  He loved to watch TV and enjoyed watching westerns and documentaries about WWII. He also enjoyed yelling at the TV when it didn’t work the way he intended it to.  He and Phyllis served and attended Trinity Lutheran Church for over 60 years. During that time, he drove the school bus for Trinity and served in other various roles in the church.  In his retirement years he loved to be outdoors, work on small projects around the house, cut grass at Trinity, and spend precious time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving wife, Phyllis Foreman; loving children, Sandra Cleland, Linda (Jim) Collins, Debra Ord, Walter (Teresa) Foreman Jr. and Diana Foreman; grandchildren, Michael Cleland Jr., Phillip Collins, Aaron Collins, Joshua Ord, Jason Lowry, Clarice Roberts, and Jackie Birch.  Along with great-grandchildren Zane, Zoe, Lilika, Christian, Joshua, Adam, Addison, Lucille, Hunter, Johnny, and 2 great-great grandchildren Olivia and Addison; sister-in-law Marie (Rande) Condrey.

Walter is preceded in passing by mother Alice and father Walter, granddaughter Angie Cleland, and son-in-law’s Michael Cleland and James Ord.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 from 5-8PM with funeral services held the following day, Thursday, April 21st, at 10AM at Flanner Buchanan – Memorial Park, 9350 E. Washington St., Indianapolis, IN 46229.
