Walter Daniel Easley, 75, of Avon, passed away Friday, December 17, 2010. He was born on October 27, 1935 in Greensburg, IN to Wilbur D. and Carolyn (Eaton) Hill. Dan was a 1953 graduate of Shortridge High School and served his country in the Army during the Korean War. He worked as a Department Head of Medical Systems for Eli Lilly, until his retirement. Dan was very active in the community; he was a member of the Avon United Methodist Church, American Legion Post #777, and 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge #696. He also loved working with children; Dan coached in the Eagledale Little League and the Greater Northwest Football League and tutored children of all ages. He was also involved with the United States Chess Federation, the Independent Order of the Foresters and enjoyed collecting Civil War Memorabilia. Most importantly, he loved his family, and they loved him. Dan is survived by his wife of 54 years, Paula (Lewellyn) Easley; children, Teresa (Matt) Calvert, Kevin D. Easley, Laura Barnhart, Sharon (Kevin) Smith; sister, Billie (James) Coates. He is also survived by his 8 grandchildren, Justin, Brandon, Maggie, Daniel, Jessica, Cody, Tyler, Nathan; and 5 great-grandchildren, Andrew, Austin, Lucas, Logan and Amya. A memorial service will he held on January 8, 2011 at 2pm at the Avon United Methodist Church. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Avon Education Fund, c/o Avon United Methodist Church.
