Walter B. Schaefer
Of Speedway passed away on February 12, 2012 at the age of 91.
Born on October 27, 1920, Mr. Schaefer became a certified master watchmaker and jeweler in 1937 and worked for H.W. Schaefer Jewelers and Zales Jewelers. He was also a realtor and owner of W. B. Schaefer Realtor.
As a member of the US Army during WW II, he served in both the European and Asiatic-Pacific Theater from 1941 to 1945. He was a 66 year member of the American Legion and North Park Masonic Lodge, 52 year Charter Member of The American Watchmakers-Clockmakers Institute, Real Estate Broker 40 years, served 25 years on MIBOR Membership and Ethics committees and was a member of Zion Evangelical United Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rachel and is survived by his daughters, Jeanne (Jerald) Leo and Patricia (Donald) Gregory as well as grandsons Joseph (Amy) Leo and Jason (Rebecca) Leo, great-grandson Demetrius Leo, great-granddaughters, Gracen and Emersen Leo, step-granddaughters Angie and Amanda Gregory, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm with a Masonic Service at 7 pm, Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at Flanner and Buchanan-Speedway. Services will be at 2 pm, Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at the funeral center. Burial will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to North Park Masonic Lodge or Zion Evangelical United Church of Christ.
