Walter Leo Angermeier, 98, died on Oct. 20, 2026. Walt, as he was known, was born in 1928 in Evansville, Indiana. He was the fifth of eight children born to Oscar and Wilfrieda (Rexing) Angermeier. Walt attended Reitz Memorial High School and served in the United States Army for two years during the Korean War, before beginning work at Hutch and Sons, where he had a sales route, and RCA, where he managed the pilot shop. After many dedicated years of service, he retired from RCA and could spend more time with his family.

Walt was a devoted father to his five children—Julie (Tim) Harrington, Mike Angermeier, Nancy (Bob) Litherland, Colleen Angermeier, and Diane (Leroy) Williams—and a much-beloved grandfather to four grandchildren—Alison and Andrea Angermeier and Kara and Jenna Williams. He is preceded in death by his wife, Virginia “Ginny” Rose (Volkert) Angermeier, whom he loved dearly throughout their 65 years of marriage, and beyond.

Walt enjoyed keeping a garden, bowling, and fishing. When asked what his favorite flavor of pie was, he would give a different answer each time. He liked to be outdoors, instruct the Green Bay Packers from afar, and laugh at his grandchildren’s jokes, even when they weren’t very funny. He frequently responded to people inquiring how he was doing with, “Pretty good for an old guy,” regardless of his health or age.

A devout Catholic, Walt was an active member of St. Ann’s parish in Indianapolis.

He will be greatly missed by his many family members and friends. In lieu of flowers, his family requests any memorial donations go to Disabled American Veterans or to St. Ann Catholic Church.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 11, 2026, from 10:00am-11:00am at St. Ann Catholic Church 6350 South Mooresville Road Indianapolis, Indiana with the Mass of Christian Burial immediately following there at 11:00am. He will be laid to rest privately at Calvary Cemetery in Indianapolis, Indiana.
