MSG Wallace Simmons, Jr., 36, Indianapolis, IN, left home in 1942 to serve his country in the U.S. Army during WWII, with the 6th Division stationed in the Philippines. MSG Wallace Simmons, Jr. then went on to serve in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, where he was a member of Headquarters Battery, 57th Field Artillery Battalion, 7th Infantry Division and was presumed dead on December 31,1953. The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) announced on November 8, 2024, that U.S. Master Sergeant Wallace Simmons, Jr. was accounted for on June 20, 2024. His date of death was December 6, 1950.
MSG Simmons, Jr. was born in Indianapolis, IN on February 11, 1914, to parents, Wallace Simmons, Sr. and Agnes L. (Wilson) Simmons. He graduated from Arsenal Technical High School and went on to work for Indianapolis Railway, Inc. He was married to the late Helen Simmons.
MSG Wallace Simmons, Jr. is survived by his cousins: Brad Oliver (Cheryl), Sharon Oliver and Debbie Wymer.
Graveside Military Honors to honor MSG Wallace Simmons, Jr. for his bravery and ultimate sacrifice to his country, will be held at 1pm on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at Washington Park East Cemetery, 10612 E. Washington Street, Indianapolis, IN 46229. He will be laid to rest with his mother, Agnes.
