Von Jerome Burton, 76, of Indianapolis passed away on May 28, 2024. He was born on August 8, 1947, in Indianapolis, Indiana to his parents Ernest and Laura Burton.
Von was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. He loved his family and his country. Von served 22 yrs in the United States Military. 7yrs (3 1/2 tours in Vietnam) in the US Army and 12 years in the United States Air Force as a Tailgunner on a B-52 Bomber. He retired from active duty in 1985. Von drove trucks hauling fuel for Flying J and Marathon Petro where he retired in 2012.
Von loved fishing, family gatherings and pitching horseshoes.
Von is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Peggy Ann (Wash) Burton; two children, 12 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and his youngest sister
He is preceded in death by his parents, 12 siblings, and a grandson
A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 7, 2024, at 1 PM at Flanner Buchanan—Washington Park East, 10722 E. Washington St. Indianapolis, Indiana, 46229. Guests in attendance are welcomed to arrive in the parking lot located on the east side of the building, around 12:45PM to be parked in a procession.
