Virginia “Ginny” Mae Sims

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Virginia “Ginny” Mae Sims, who departed this life at the age of 86 on May 2nd, 2026. Ginny was cherished by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Ginny was born in August of 1939 at home in Lafayette, Indiana, to Fletcher Wybrance Sheese and Florence Ruby (Secrest) Sheese who then moved to Spencer, Indiana where she grew up most of her childhood. Ginny was the second oldest of five daughters.

After completing high school, Ginny was married to Jack Leon Sims of Spencer, Indiana. They spent the majority of their lives in Indianapolis, Indiana. Together for 66 years, they raised two daughters, Tammy and Tina. Ginny liked to play tennis and was an excellent golfer. Ginny was a wonderful Daughter, Sister, Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. Ginny brought joy, warmth, and kindness to everyone she encountered.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Survivors include her children, Tammy (Kim) Finn, Tina (Scott) Hopkins; grandchildren, Dustin (Tabitha) Finn, Brittany (Nick) Nance, Dylan (Rachael) Finn, Haley Hopkins, Lily (Nolan) Ecker; sisters Patricia Slaybaugh, Betty Graham, Dorothy Oliver and Mary Sheese
