Virginia R. Baker, 86, Indianapolis, passed away December 5, 2014. She was born in Indianapolis on January 9, 1928, the daughter of Andrew and Flora Fox. During WW II, Virginia worked for Naval Avionics. Over her career, which spanned more than 50 years, she was a medical technician. Virginia was on team that administered the first blood transfusion in Indiana in the 1950s. She was an active member of Living Hope Church and also volunteered much of her time with Friend's Fellowship Women's Prison Ministries for many years. Virginia was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Virginia Baker. She is survived by her children, Diane "Sis" Hayes, Charles "Bud" Baker (Janet), James "Pete" Baker (Becky), William "Bill" Baker (Lisa), David Baker, Rebecca "Becky" Schaefer (Russell), and Andrew "Andy" Baker (Doris), 14 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren. Services will be on Thursday, December 11 at 1 PM at Flanner and Buchanan- Memorial Park, 9350 E. Washington Street. Visitation will be on Wednesday, December 10 from 4-8 PM. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
