Virginia Krueger of Indianapolis, IN, passed away on May 30, 2026, at the age of 97. She was born in Albion, IN, on May 12, 1929, to parents, Lee and Victoria (LaBa) Adams.
Virginia grew up in Ft Wayne, IN and attended Precious Blood grade school and graduated from Central Catholic High School with honors in 1947. After graduation, she attended Nursing School in Ft Wayne and moved to Indianapolis, where she worked at the Indianapolis Times in the advertising department and composed book reviews in the Sunday edition. Virginia married Robert Krueger July 26, 1952. They spent nearly 40 loving years together; he preceded her in passing in 1985.
Virginia joined St Andrew Catholic Church, starting a Great Books Club at the church for the first time and organizing a Christmas bazaar. She spent time caring for her husband throughout his illness. She did volunteer work reading the Indianapolis Star aloud on Butler’s PBS radio station for the visually impaired. She also read to inmates at the Indianapolis Women’s Prison. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and family. Sunday dinners were enjoyed at her house for years. She had many hobbies such as cooking, reading, sewing and crafting. She created diamond art pictures until her birthday this year. She also enjoyed music and classic movies.
She is survived by children, Robert (Betsy) Krueger and Brian (Judy) Krueger; grandchildren, Molly (spouse Corey Smith) Krueger and Eric (spouse Valerie) Krueger.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Virginia’s honor may be made to the Marion County Public Library.
A private graveside service with family will be held at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
