Virginia Hart

Virginia Ellen Hart, 78, of Thorntown, who was a resident of Zionsville for more than 40 years, died September 12, 2011. She was born to the late Earl F. and Juanita (Greenwood) Burch in Ft. Wayne, IN on September 6, 1933. Virginia was a graduate of Epsom High School, and Purdue University. Virginia married her husband of 57 years, Paul E. Hart on June 12, 1954. She was a teacher in Jasper, Whitestown, and Zionsville, where she was greatly respected as a home-economics teacher. Virginia was a former member of Zionsville United Methodist Church, and was either president or an officer of most of the organizations in which she was involved. She was former President of the Indiana Angus Auxiliary, Beta Upsilon Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, and Boone County Extension Homemakers. Virginia was a life member of Indiana Angus Auxiliary, West Central Indiana Angus, Boone County Retired Teachers Association, Indiana Retired Teachers' Association, Purdue Alumna, John Purdue Club, University Women's Professional Organization, Zionsville Better Homes and Hobbies, and Zionsville Home Builders Club. She was also a member of Boone County 4-H Extension Board and Boone County Leadership Academy, Class of 2001. Virginia was awarded the 2010 Boone County Friend of 4-H Award, and the 2003 Vera Sherbahn Memorial Award from the Indiana Angus Auxiliary. She and her family were the 2005 Indiana Angus Association Family of the Year and were honored with the Don Snepp Memorial Award. When she was not busy with these activities, Virginia enjoyed baking and photography, but her greatest joy came from spending time with her husband, children, and grandchildren. Virginia is survived by her husband, Paul; son Paul E. Hart II, son Rene Hart and daughter-in- law Deanna Parks Hart; and daughter Phyllis Ann Hart. Grandchildren Gwendolen, Kirsten, Levi, and Sarah and great granddaughter Nora also survive. Virginia was preceded in death by her sister Vonda Harper and her nephew Mark Harper. Calling will be held Friday, September 16, 2011 from 4 to 8 pm at Zionsville Christian Church, 120 N. 9th Street. Funeral services will be held there Saturday, September 17 at 11am, with calling one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Salem Cemetery, Zionsville.
