Click HereIt is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Virginia “Ginger” Naylor, 86, on September 12, 2026. Ginger was born on February 7, 1940 to parents Joseph and Geraldine “Jerry” Doll (Milender) in Indianapolis.
Ginger is fondly remembered for her sheer selflessness. She was always ready to give herself to a good cause, be it volunteer work, or to her dearly beloved family. Her adventurous spirit, spicy personality, and deep compassion made her the life of any party. There was nothing she loved more than to celebrate a birthday and the holidays, especially New Years Eve with her grandchildren.
A dedicated and passionate person, Ginger retired from Eli Lilly after decades of hard work. She was greatly involved with the Girl Scouts of Central Indiana, a love she carried out for years. A more recent interest she gave herself to was Robin’s Nest of Indy, as she had a soft spot for cats.
Much like a hummingbird herself, Ginger was an energetic go-getter. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Ginger is preceded in death by her parents, and her siblings Victoria “Vicki” Seal, Steve Doll, and her son-in-law Marcus “Gunny” Smith.
Ginger is survived by her daughters Tammy (Chris) Hollingsworth, and Lee Ann Smith; grandchildren Jennings Smith, Kassi Smith, David Hollingsworth, Katie White, Marlee Smith, and Linzy Wontorcik; siblings Sandy Marshall, and Kandi Scott; 11 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Services to be handled by Flanner Buchanan - Washington Park East (10722 E. Washington Street, Indianapolis, IN 46229) on Thursday, September 17, 2026. Visitation will begin at 11am. Funeral service will be held at 1pm. Ginger will be laid to rest at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens (9700 Allisonville Road, Indianapolis, IN 46250).
In honor of Ginger, please make a memorial contribution to The Girl Scouts of Central Indiana, and Robin's Nest of Indy, Inc.
