Victoria Joy (Thomas) Munoz
December 20, 1998 - November 28, 2025
Indianapolis, Indiana
Victoria Joy Thomas (Muñoz), 26, passed away unexpectedly on November 28, 2025, in Indianapolis, Indiana, leaving behind a light that will forever be missed and a love that will never be forgotten. Born in Greenfield, Indiana, on December 20, 1998, Victoria entered the world with a stubborn little streak already showing—she stayed sideways and refused to move, arriving entirely on her own terms. She came into the world with a head full of dark brown hair and the cutest cheeks imaginable, early hints of the bold, beautiful spirit she would become.
Victoria graduated from Harris Academy in Brownsburg, Indiana, with the Class of 2016. Most recently, she worked at IU West Hospital as a Med/Surg PCA/CNA, where her compassion and ability to comfort others came naturally. It was there that she discovered her passion for healthcare, often talking about her dream of advancing her career in the medical field, despite how much she hated academics.
She is survived by her mother, Jacqueline Denise Whitlock of Brownsburg, Indiana, and her stepfather, Steve “Pops” Whitlock, who loved her as fiercely and fully as if she were his own daughter—and whom she adored as a trusting, reliable constant in her life. She is also survived by her father, Michael Frederick Thomas of Indianapolis, Indiana. Victoria leaves behind her beloved siblings: Jennifer Olivia (Stephens) Martin and Alexandria Danielle Roberts of Ocala, Florida, and Logan Montgomery Thomas of Bloomington, Indiana. She was a proud “Aunt Tori” to her nieces and nephew—Abigail Olivia Jean Martin, Chloe Joy Martin, and Landon Ryan Roberts. Victoria is additionally survived by her recently divorced husband, Adan Muñoz of Indianapolis, Indiana, who held a deep and enduring love for her.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Bertha Joy and JC Sells, and Geneva and Phillip Frederick Thomas, who now welcome her into everlasting peace and rest.
Victoria had so many little joys that made her uniquely herself. Food brought her comfort—especially lima beans, which her mom kept ready for their beloved “lima bean therapy,” and her mom’s salmon, steaks with asparagus, and garlic dill baby potatoes were her favorite. She never left her mom’s house without snacks and was infamous for sneaking away with her mom's fuzzy slippers.
Her love of food also connected her deeply to her sister Jennifer, who wasn’t just her oldest sister but one of her very best friends. The term “Foodie” definitely applied to them as they both shared an affinity and likeness for really good food. She often spoke about wanting to become a mother one day and found comfort and happiness in hearing about her nieces and nephew. They shared their joys and their struggles with one another, offering the kind of understanding only sisters and best friends can. Tori adored anything dill, loved hibachi, and she and Jennifer both agreed that Fair Oaks Farms mashed potatoes were a slice of heaven. Her favorite scent from Bath & Body Works was Butterfly—one her family will forever associate with her.
She also loved treating herself. She loved getting her nails and toes done, and she and her sister, Lexi, exchanged countless nail photos over the years. She loved doing her makeup—and she was REALLY good at it. She and Lexi shared numerous conversations about hair, makeup, nails, fashion, and everything girly. Victoria’s honesty meant everything to Lexi—because when she hyped you up, you knew it was real.
Victoria and her brother, Logan, shared a deep understanding of one another. They often laughed and reflected on their “young and dumb” mistakes, finding comfort in knowing they had walked through similar seasons. Their bond was one built on honesty, empathy, and shared experience.
These small joys, bonds, and routines were the pieces of everyday life that made her feel most like herself.
Victoria’s personality was unforgettable. She was brutally honest and never afraid to be fully and completely herself, carrying a beautiful confidence and a boldness that made her stand out in every room. She could make you laugh so easily, sometimes with a look, a comment, or the blunt truth delivered in a way only she could pull off. Her middle name, Joy, passed down from her grandmother Bertha Joy and carried forward through her niece Chloe Joy, was more than just a name—it was a legacy she naturally lived out. When Victoria smiled, she truly embodied that joy. Beneath her fearless exterior was a soft, caring heart—one that gave deeply, quietly, and without ever expecting anything in return. She had a servant’s heart, offering whatever she could, whether it was her time, her presence, or her support. Though she was so many different things to so many different people—a daughter, sister, aunt, friend, confidant, and safe place—she was also incredibly strong, enduring hidden hardships most could never imagine. Victoria persevered with a resilience that inspired us, pushing through challenges she rarely spoke about. The tattoo she carried—“strength”—was more than ink; it was her story and her truth. She lived it, embodied it, and held onto that strength until her very last breath.
We find comfort in the words of Isaiah 40:31 (KJV): “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”
