Vicki Jane Wirey, age 75 of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away peacefully on Friday evening, March 20, 2026 in the comfort of her own home, surrounded by her loving family.
Vicki was born on February 16, 1951 in Indianapolis, a daughter of Wallace and Toy Lee (Ping) Barnes.
Vicki was the youngest of seven children. She is survived by her siblings: brother Wally (wife Judy) Barnes of Plainfield and sister Sue Hart of Indianapolis.
She is preceded in death by her siblings: sister Margaret McClintic, sister June Ann Cooney, sister Beverly Caruso and sister Rose Ryan.
Vicki married James Albert Wirey III on September 26, 1969 in Indianapolis. She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years: James Albert Wirey III of Indianapolis.
Vicki is also survived by her three children: daughter Dawn Wirey of Indianapolis, son James Albert Wirey IV of Indianapolis, and daughter Jackie (son-in-law William) Peterson of Avon.
Three grandchildren: Jazmynn Peterson, Dominick Peterson, and Jessi Wirey.
As well as brothers-in law: Tom Caruso and Roy Ryan.
Vicki grew up in Indianapolis near Wayne Township. She attended Ben Davis High School.
Throughout her working and professional career, she worked in the banking business.
Over the years she enjoyed many things including planting flowers and decorating her yard, taking weekend trips with her husband, spending time with her grandchildren and attending all of their school functions and activities, collecting decorative napkins, shopping, playing games on her iPad and decorating for every holiday.
Vicki will be remembered for her laughter & humor, her love of margaritas, and making handmade gift bags for her family.
She would always sign her cards with “we love you so much” and her favorite saying was “it’s going to be okay!”
Vicki was patient, loveable, precious, kind, special, grateful, joyful and giving.
Most importantly Vicki was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, family member and friend who will be fondly remembered and greatly missed.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2026 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Flanner Buchanan – Decatur Township Funeral Center, located at 5463 Kentucky Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46221.
Her funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM. Chaplain Tom Bartley will officiate.
Burial will follow at West Newton Cemetery.
