Vernie E. Finchum

F Vernie E. "Red" Finchum 95 of Plainfield formerly Indianapolis, IN. Vernie was born on July 14, 1917 in Indianapolis to William Riley and Laura (Malicoat) Finchum. Vernie served our country in the United States Army during WWII and was affectionately known as "Red". Red worked for Allison's a Division of General Motors Corp as a machinist retiring in 1977. Red was a former member of 7th and 8th United Christian Church and currently a member of Center Community Church in Plainfield. He was also a member of the Plainfield American Legion Post 329. Calling will be held on Tuesday February 12, 2013 at Flanner and Buchanan-Speedway from 4 to 8 pm. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday February 13, 2013 at 11 am at the funeral center. Burial will be in West Newton Cemetery, West Newton, IN. Vernie is survived by his loving wife Mildred L. (Adams) Finchum, children Roger D. (Barbara) Finchum and Ronald D. (Mary) Finchum five grandchildren and six great grandchildren and a sister Betty Spear and Danny (Julie) Finchum. Memorial contributions may be given to either church in Vernie's memory.
